The School of Business at Providence College strives to create a learning environment consistent with the mission of the College, grounded in a strong liberal arts education and the Judaeo-Christian values as articulated in the Dominican tradition. Built on sound, ethical standards, this environment cultivates the personal, civic, and professional development of its students and faculty through close interaction, excellent pedagogy, and high-quality scholarship.
The school incorporates the undergraduate programs in accountancy, finance, management, and marketing, and the Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) Program in the Graduate Studies Program. Completion of the curriculum within the school leads to a bachelor of science (B.S.) degree for undergraduate students and the M.B.A. degree for graduate students.
The School of Business provides an education that prepares students to be lifelong learners, ethical professionals, and effective agents of change. Its programs of study develop well-rounded, socially responsible individuals with an appreciation for the challenges and opportunities of diversity and globalization. The curriculum aims to provide students with competencies in their chosen fields of study as well as in such core areas as critical thinking, leadership, teamwork, communication, and information technology.
The school’s faculty are fully committed to excellence in teaching and research, as is the school in supporting that enterprise. Faculty actively encourage those intellectual and professional contributions that would vitalize teaching and service.

School of Continuing Education
The Providence College School of Continuing Education (SCE) affords an individual the opportunity of pursuing his or her undergraduate education on a part-time or full-time basis in any one of a variety of capacities: as a degree candidate in a number of degree and certificate programs; as a non-degree candidate, taking courses to be applied to a degree candidacy at a later time or for personal enrichment; or as an auditor, attending solely for personal enjoyment. Through the Access Schedule, courses are offered 15 times per year. Web-based distance-learning courses are also available. Semester bulletins of course listings and the School of Continuing Education Catalog are available from the SCE office or on the SCE Web page at www.providence.edu/sce.
Summer School
Providence College offers undergraduate day school students the option of taking Summer School courses either through the School of Continuing Education (SCE) or other accredited institutions.
Students wishing to enroll in summer courses at other institutions, as well as those seeking to enroll in courses not already approved through the SCE, must adhere to the following procedures: 1) meet with the appropriate dean in the Office of the Dean of Undergraduate Studies for Core Curriculum requirement or free elective approval; 2) for courses being used toward major or minor requirements, students must obtain written permission from the department chairperson/program director and present it to the dean before approval may be granted for the course.

Graduate Studies Program
The Graduate Studies Program develops scholars, teachers, and business leaders by providing opportunities for qualified persons to pursue advanced studies. Graduate programs lead to the degrees of master of arts in history; master of arts in biblical studies; master of arts in theology; master of theological studies; master of arts in teaching mathematics; master of business administration; and master of education in administration, counseling, special education, or literacy.
In 2001, the College inaugurated the Providence Alliance for Catholic Teachers (PACT) in partnership with the University of Notre Dame and Catholic dioceses in New England. This two-year program allows students to complete, at no cost, master’s-level teacher-preparation courses leading to the master of education degree, while at the same time making a significant contribution as a full-time faculty member at an inner-city New England diocesan elementary school, middle school (grades 5-8) or high school.
The program is designed for graduates of both liberal arts and education programs. Liberal arts majors pursue master’s degree studies leading to initial certification in secondary education in a specific content area. Education majors pursue master’s degree studies leading to certification in special education or literacy.

Alumni Association
The Providence College National Alumni Association is a nonprofit organization that exists to advance the cause of higher education as represented by Providence College and to foster communication and a spirit of fellowship among the alumni of the College.
To accomplish these goals, the association sponsors an extensive program of educational service and social activities to involve alumni in the mainstream of Providence College life. Through this program, the association also works to mobilize the tremendous resources of talent among the 48,000 alumni of the College, to be used for the benefit of Providence College and its current and former students.
Scholarship events, assistance to student organizations, and career advising programs utilizing alumni volunteers are just a few of the alumni association activities that may be of interest to prospective Providence College students.
