Examines the history of the American West, its place in American culture and imagination. Concentration on some of the following themes: the significance of the frontier in American history; cultural contacts and contracts; the impact of race, gender, and ethnicity on one’s historical experience of the West; the economic history of the West; and the environmental history of the region.
