AST 161 - Japanese Classics in Context 1 Semester, 3 Credits Core Foundation/Proficiency: Intensive Writing I; Diversity
An interdisciplinary exploration of major works in Japanese culture from the classical era through the twentieth century. Our texts will encompass mythology, poetry, war tales, prose fiction, and film. As we situate each text firmly in its historical context, we will also consider what “Japanese tradition” means as we trace its evolution from antiquity to a globalized, modern world.
Same as HIS 161
