EDU 830 - Best Practices in Primary Grades

3 Credits

Based on the IRA/NCTE standards for reading professionals, this course connects theoretical and practical knowledge about early language development. Through course projects and field experiences, candidates explore early literacy development with an emphasis on assessment, phonemic awareness, phonics, vocabulary, fluency, comprehension, and the relationship between reading and writing. A hands-on experience with a primary grade student is required.
