PACT candidates commit to two years of service as Catholic school teachers while pursuing a program of professional study, living in intentional Christian communities, and developing their spiritual lives in the tradition of Dominican and Catholic education.
PACT M.Ed. in Secondary Education (with eligibility for R.I. state certification)
This degree is designed for those who are new to education. Those who complete this track are eligible for Rhode Island state teacher certification. The Secondary M.Ed. is also open to those who have an undergraduate education degree and are already eligible for state certification.

Rhode Island Right to Read Act Awareness Requirement
All candidates in educator preparation programs are required to exhibit awareness of the Science of Reading and Structured Literacy, per the Rhode Island Right to Read Act. PACT members demonstrate awareness by completing BRIDGE-RI instructional modules.
Other M.Ed. and M.A. Degree Options
Graduates with education majors who have obtained state certification or can present proof of eligibility upon graduation can apply for other programs. Options include:
- M.Ed. in Literacy
- M.Ed. in Urban Teaching
- M.Ed. in Special Education
- MA in History
- MA in Teaching Mathematics
PACT members in these academic programs join those in the PACT Secondary M.Ed. in community life, shared spirituality, and key courses (Mission and Culture of Catholic Schools, Teaching Internship I, II, III, and IV) while doing most of their coursework in their degree programs.
