Fire Science
This program prepares students to address the increasing complexity of fire protection systems and safety as well as administration and management within the fire service. To meet the increasing demands of the fire science field, students are provided with a strong academic and professional foundation in fire-related research, ethics, community relations and risk reduction, leadership, and political and legal issues. The program prepares students for leadership roles within the fire service, and for positions in related fields of fire systems, protection, and safety. Requirements for the bachelor of science degree
Students must enter the program with an A.S. in Fire Science or must have completed and transferred in the following courses: Building Construction for Fire Protection; Fire Behavior and Combustion; Fire Prevention; Fire Protection Systems; Principles of Emergency Services; Principles of Fire and Emergency Services Safety and Survival. I. Core Requirements: 42 credit hours

Perspectives on Western Civilization 9 Credits
Philosophy: one ethics and one other course 6 Credits
Theology: one 200-level and one 300-level course 6 Credits
Science: course in chemistry 3 Credits
Social Science 3 Credits
Quantitative Reasoning: FRS 305, Hydraulics 3 Credits
Fine Arts 3 Credits
Intensive Writing 6 Credits
Oral Communication 3 credits
Proficiencies: Diversity, Civic/Global Engagement, Information Literacy, Collaboration and Teamwork
II. Fire Science Requirements: 39 credit hours
Students are expected to transfer in 18 hours of FRS credit as indicated above. III. Free Electives: 39 credit hours
