Required Courses
To earn a minor in women’s studies, a student is required to complete six courses in women’s studies which must include:
•WGS 101 - Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies
•WGS 489 - Capstone Seminar: Issues in Women’s and Gender Studies
• Four elective courses approved for women’s studies credit of which no more than two may be in the humanities: WGS 224 , WGS 320 , WGS 425 , WGS 326 , WGS 470 (special topics), WGS 490 (independent study); and no more than two may be in the natural and social sciences: WGS 227 , WGS 301 , WGS 425 , WGS 380 , WGS 451 , WGS 470 (selected topics), WGS 489 , and WGS 490 (independent study). ENG 440 -441 may be taken as electives.
Because Women’s and Gender Studies electives are interdisciplinary, they are cross-listed with other departments/programs. The Director of the Women’s and Gender Studies Program will be responsible for verifying student compliance with the requirements of the minor.
