Ethics and Society

Designed for students majoring in areas including Business, Economics, Global Studies, Health Sciences, and Political Science, among others, the Minor in Ethics and Society provides students with the opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of philosophical issues related to these fields, while simultaneously developing essential skills of philosophical analysis and argument.

Students must complete 6 courses [18 credit hours] from the list of approved courses, including at least two courses in each of two designated Core Areas focusing on issues in applied ethics and political/social philosophy respectively. Up to 2 non-PHL designated courses [6 credit hours] with a focus on political or social philosophy as demonstrated by the course description and/or syllabus (for example, PSC 341 Classical Political Theory PSC 342 Modern Political Theory , and PSC 343 Contemporary Political Theory ) may count towards the minor requirements with the approval of the Philosophy department chair.
