Master of Arts in Teaching Mathematics

Degree Requirements

The Master’s degree requires the minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 and the completion of 10 courses, which consist of three components:   

I. Four Core Courses:   

• MTH 501 - Algebraic Structures I
    
• MTH 502 - Algebraic Structures II
    
• MTH 511 - Mathematical Analysis I
    
• MTH 512 - Mathematical Analysis II
    

II. Any Three Mathematics Electives:

• MTH 500 - Foundations of Mathematics
    
• MTH 504 - Differential Equations
    
• MTH 523 - Probability and Statistics
    
• MTH 530 - Topics in Geometry
    
• MTH 540 - Topics in Applied Mathematics
    

III. Any Three Education Electives: 

• Any graduate-level education courses
• MTH 516 - Graphing Calculators in the Classroom
   
• MTH 530 Topics in Geometry
     
• MTH 640 - Computers in Education
    

Course offerings are designed so that most students can complete the program within two years. Generally, four courses are offered each semester and a few more courses in summer sessions.
