MSC 307 - Liturgical Music

1 Semester, 3 credits-

A survey of liturgical music in the Roman Catholic tradition with a focus on theological principles that undergird liturgical music, including Tra le Sollecitudini, Sacrosanctum Concilium, and Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship. Also includes a study of the repertoire used for the celebration of Mass including chant, polyphony and choral repertoire, hymnody, psalmody, and contemporary music.
