EDU 361 - Teaching Social Studies in Elementary School

1 Semester, 3 credits-

Emphasizes building familiarity with social studies standards, curricula, and teaching methods in elementary schools. Students design a critical social studies unit in relation to state standards about an unfamiliar topic. Emphasis on nondominant narratives and those deemed “other” by traditional social studies. Open to EDUE majors only. Prerequisites: EDU 231 or EDU 241 and EDU 285. Corequisite field experience: EDU 361L
