Bachelor of Arts
A minimum of 30 hours (10 semester courses) are required for graduation in the English major. After the Introduction to Literature course (required of all English majors), 4 courses are chosen from Group I (before 1800) and 4 from Group II (after 1800). One additional course is chosen from either group or may be chosen from other courses approved for Major Credit.

Required Courses

- 4 Pre-1800 Literature Courses (12 credits)
- 4 Post-1800 Literature Courses (no more than two creative writing courses may be taken for post-1800 literature requirement) (12 credits)
- 1 Additional Course Carrying Major Credit (3 credits)
Beginning with the Class of 2027, a maximum of 2 literature courses at the 200 level may be taken for Major Credit.

Academic programs vary in their requirements. Students should consult with their faculty advisor and the Academic Guidebook to review the Academic Planning Form pertinent to their program of study. In addition, students should review course descriptions regarding any prerequisites for required courses. Graduation requirements include a minimum of 120 credit hours, although some academic programs may require additional credits.
