Master of Science in Sports Administration

The M.S. in Sports Administration program teaches individuals to apply business principles to the organization, administration, and management of athletic programs and teams, fitness/rehabilitation facilities and health clubs, and sport recreation and related services. It prepares future sports leaders for program planning and development; business and financial management principles; sales, marketing, and recruitment; event promotion; legal aspects of sports; and ethics. Degree Requirements

The program requires 33 credits of graduate coursework, and additional prerequisite/foundational courses as presented below.

1. Foundation/Prerequisite Courses

  • MSS 502: Foundations of Business, 0 credits

    • MTH 217: Statistics
    • Microsoft Excel Certification
    • Work experience: 1) Internship, 150 hours, or 2) current/past employments in sports or 3) sports consulting project (can also be completed during fall term)
    • Summer PCSB Graduate Orientation and sports student engagement event
    • Winter student engagement experience
  • MSS 503 Foundations of Business Administration  3 credits (only required for non-undergraduate majors in business; consideration for minors will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis)

2. Nine Core Courses, 27 Credit Hours (all courses below are 3 credits each)
