The Core Curriculum is the center of the liberal arts education which Providence College offers to its students. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and intellectual skills that will serve as a basis for a lifetime of interest in the humanities, social sciences, and the natural sciences.
The following courses comprise the Core Curriculum and are required in all bachelor’s degree programs:

English: 12 credit hours
Including two courses in writing and one course in literature Science: 6 credit hours
Courses in biology, chemistry, or natural science Philosophy: 12 credit hours
A logic and an ethics course required plus any additional two courses Theology: 12 credit hours
Social Science: 6 credit hours
anthropology, economics, law, leadership, political science, psychology, sociology, and social work Fine Arts: 3 credit hours
creative writing, studio art, film, art history, music history, theater Mathematics: 3 credit hours
