Liberal Studies
The liberal studies major recognizes individual needs and interests of students by allowing all course work beyond the Core Curriculum to reflect elective choices. This program provides students with a broad degree of flexibility so that students may tailor their studies to their goals or interests. Students may combine the Liberal Studies degree with certificate programs to create an individualized program that suits their career goals. Those with large numbers of transfer credits outside the core requirements are best accommodated in this major. Requirements for the bachelor of arts degree
I. Core Requirements: 60 credit hours
English: Including two courses in writing and one course in literature 12 Credits History 6 Credits Science: biology, chemistry, or natural science 6 Credits Philosophy: a logic and an ethics course required plus any two additional courses 12 Credits Theology 12 Credits Social science: anthropology, economics, labor relations, law, political science, psychology, sociology, and social work 6 Credits Fine arts: creative writing, studio art, art history, music history, instrumental and choral training, theater 3 Credits Mathematics: any level 3 Credits II. Free Electives: 54 credit hours
BA in Liberal Studies with a Business Studies Certificate
I. Core Requirements: 60 credit hours
English: Including two courses in writing and one course in literature 12 Credits History: 6 Credits Science: biology, chemistry, or natural science 6 Credits Philosophy: a logic and a business ethics course required plus any two additional courses 12 Credits Theology 12 Credits Social science: ECN 101 and ECN 102 6 Credits Fine arts: creative writing, studio art, art history, music history, instrumental and choral training, theater 3 Credits Mathematics: MTH 107 3 Credits Business Studies Certificate Requirements
Six courses in Business areas One course in Human Relations: 3 credit hours
Including One course capstone experience: 3 credit hours
Including II. Free Electives: 36 credit hours
