The Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies is an interdisciplinary degree program that prepares students for professional success by integrating a strong foundation in the liberal arts with 21st century knowledge and skills in areas such as leadership, communication, diversity and ethics. Students individualize their program of study by pursuing a career-related certificate or concentration based on their personal and professional needs and interests.

Core Curriculum Requirements: 42 credit hours

Perspectives on Western Civilization 9 Credits Philosophy: one ethics and one other course 6 Credits Theology: one 200-level and one 300-level course 6 Credits Science 3 Credits Social Science 3 Credits Quantitative Reasoning 3 Credits Fine Arts 3 Credits Intensive Writing 6 Credits Oral Communication 3 credits Proficiencies: Diversity, Civic/Global Engagement, Information Literacy, Collaboration and Teamwork Requirements for Professional Studies core: 21 credits
III. Professional Certificate/Concentration: generally 15 credit hours
Students will select from one of SCE’s existing certificate programs below (applying no more than one course that is part of the professional core), or proposing a concentration of their own choosing, with adviser approval. Generally 15 credits IV. Free Electives: generally 42 credit hours
*A minimum of twenty-four hours must be upper division (300 or 400-level) credits. |
