EDU 840 - Evidence-Based Practices in Intermediate Grade Literacy Instruction 3 credits-
With an emphasis on intermediate grade students, candidates develop proficiency in applying structured literacy practices to all of the reading components, with particular emphasis on vocabulary, fluency and comprehension. Four types of assessment (screening, diagnosis, progress monitoring and outcomes) and analysis of their benefits and limitations in identifying the strengths and needs of individual students will be highlighted.
